Cages Parakeet

"I can put a parakeet and a cockitiel together if they live in separate cages?
I have a parakeet that I had for a year and would like a companion for him. Would it be okay if I get a cockitiel but keep them in separate cages and held at different times during the day? I read some books of the two get along well and on some websites that make wonderful friends though different speicies.
Yes you can. I allow them to be sufficiently close that they can see each other. Take your time and asked to be able to leave the cage together. I had four parakeets and two cockatiels. The first time that has I turned all of them loose in the house. All wings were cut and stayed on the ground. I had a problem since there was plenty of room to get away from each other, if they wanted. However, I found myself eating and drinking together. When you spray the water all came and took baths.
